What We Do, And Who We Are

Alt Investor is an information site about alternative investments and the firms that offer them. It is owned by Bright Ground AI Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 15698908), and written by one person, Nathan Tarrant.

Two things you should know before reading anything else here.

The site makes money by introducing readers to investment providers. If you make an enquiry through this site, your details go to a provider, and the provider pays for the introduction. That is the whole business model. There is no subscription, no product, and nothing for sale. The full version is on the disclosure page.

The site does not give financial advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. Alternative investments are, almost by definition, illiquid, hard to value and often restricted to accredited investors. Whether any of them suits you is a question for you and, where appropriate, a licensed adviser.

What the site does do is describe asset classes and profile providers, using the providers’ own filings and documents wherever they exist. How that research is done is set out in how we research, and what happens when something is wrong is on the corrections page.

Nathan has worked in and around financial services since 1997, first running an FSA-regulated financial services business, later running search and lead generation for investment sponsors including a 1031 exchange firm and an oil and gas fund, and from 2022 to 2024 as co-founder and COO of an oil and gas fund sponsor in Virginia. He writes here as a private investor and as someone who has spent years inside the marketing operations of the kind of firms this site profiles.

AboutAlt Investor

Nathan Tarrant is the owner and sole author of Alt Investor and the founder of Bright Ground AI Ltd.

He has worked in and around financial services since 1997. He founded ITS Financial, an FSA-regulated mortgage business, and was its Chief Operations Officer from 1997 to 2002. From 2005 to 2008 he consulted on growth strategy to financial services and law firms, and from August 2008 to January 2009 he was a wealth consultant at Guardian Wealth Management in Geneva, working with expatriate employees of international organisations and multinationals.

After the 2008 crisis he moved into digital marketing. He was Head of Digital at CFA Marketing, now We Are Fabrik, from 2011 to 2015, and in 2016 founded NTA Digital, an agency serving financial services clients until 2022. Those clients included Fig Marketing, for whom he was the sole SEO provider to their IFA network; Capital Square, a national sponsor of tax-advantaged real estate investments, where he led digital marketing from November 2019 to November 2021, a period in which the firm’s cumulative transaction volume grew from just over $1bn to more than $3.6bn; and Clark Energy Fund Management, an oil and gas fund for which his work generated inquiries representing more than $250m in stated investment intent.

From 2022 to 2024 he was co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of Alphascend Capital, an oil and gas fund sponsor for accredited investors based in Virginia.

He is the founder and director of Bright Ground AI Ltd, a search and AI-visibility agency for financial services and other regulated sectors.
